NCECA Salt Lake City!
Flying over the Great Salt Lake! I actually have not been to Utah since our family road trip in 1967!
Writing from NCECA in Salt Lake City! I didn’t know when I registered to attend this year that it would coincide with preparing for my resident artist show at Vortex Pottery; so as much I’ve enjoyed being here with all these SUPER TALENTED ARTISTS and getting inspired, I’m also feeling a little anxious about being away from the studio…
My upcoming show, Edifice, is a series of structures and buildings! Some are colorful and some are controversial, and some I’m happy just survived the firings! I’ll also be showing some of my older work. A week later, I’ll be giving an artist talk, Saturday April 26th at 6pm at Vortex Pottery learning hall!
Big Changes!
It’s almost holiday season! I made a big move from my studio in Michigan to our new home in the Pacific Northwest! We moved to Seattle at the end of the summer and I’m thrilled to be living close to my daughter. My new pottery home is at Vortex Pottery, https://vortexpottery.com/ where I’ve found a really wonderful place to work! Also back to teaching Yoga, which has been a much needed addition to my well being! https://www.bodyreflects.com/
I’ve been creating lots of pieces, and will be posting them soon! Meanwhile, I’ve added some ornaments just in time for the holidays!
Almost time to reopen!
Cabin In the summer!
Hello, I’m counting the days until I can return to the studio! My workspace is located in my cabin in the Manistee National Forest in lower Northern Michigan on the banks of the beautiful Pete Marquette River. The cabin is not insulated, so we have to winterize and close up every fall, which includes not having access to my pottery studio since November! Needless to say I’m itching to get back to work!
In trying to keep the creative juices flowing, I took two short glass blowing classes this winter, which was a blast! We made glass holiday ornaments and heart paperweights!
In February, we took a trip to Ireland! The highlight was the Falconry experience in Galway! We worked with two types of Owls, a Hawk and a Falcon, it was an amazing time!
II have lots of ideas spinning in my brain and can’t wait to get my hands back in clay. I hope to have my studio open for visits this summer, if you happen to find yourself somewhere between Ludington and Baldwin, reach out to schedule a time to stop by!
Stay tuned for new work!
